Who We Are
Our Mission
We are called to express our love for God through worship, to grow in the body of Christ as a family of faith, and to serve our community through outreach.
Our Vision
Our vision for Torrey Pines Christian Church is a growth oriented community of faith, with multiple styles of worship, small group ministries, and transformational outreach programs.
Implementing Our Vision: Where We Will Focus and How We Will be Known
Worship
Worship is at the heart of our community. We seek to offer worship in multiple styles, which inspires us through relevant biblical preaching, strong music programs appropriate to worship style, and a welcoming pastoral presence.
Family Ministry
Family Ministry is an important area for both our existing community and for future growth. We seek to offer a range of strong family ministry programs that meet the needs of traditional inter-generational, and non-traditional families for community, education, and service.
Small-Group Ministry
Small-Group Ministry serves to sustain our community and is also a form of outreach. We seek to support both existing groups (Sunday School & fellowship groups, Choir, etc.) and new groups (e.g.; singles, young married couples, special interests) to meet our community's needs.
Transformational Outreach
Transformational Outreach connects our hearts and hands with our strong tradition of generosity. We seek to focus our outreach service in the following areas:
- House Building: A hands on ministry that has engaged our community for many years.
- Ministry to Emergent Church Communities: Helping communities (e.g.; Missiongathering) that reach out to those whose faith journey is best served in a non-traditional ministry setting.
- Wedding & Marriage Ministry: Serving couples with Great Start classes for engaged couples, inspiring ceremonies for newlyweds, and marriage enrichment programs for married couples.
- Generosity: Continuing our commitment to share our gifts to meet needs in our local community and, through support of denominational agencies, needs throughout the world.
Our Biblical Foundations
The Great Confession
Jesus is the Christ,
the Son of the Living God,
and we proclaim Him Lord and Savior of the world.
(Matthew 16:16, Phil. 2:11, I John 4:14)
The Great Commandment
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul and with all your mind.
This is the great and first commandment.
And a second is like it:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
(Matthew 22:37-39)
The Great Commission
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations
baptizing them in the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
(Matthew 28:19-20a)
