Mission

Provide opportunities for spiritual growth, enrichment, education and creative ministries to enable women to develop a sense of personal responsibility for the whole mission of Jesus Christ. Every woman in the congregation is considered a member of Disciples Women (DW) and is invited to participate in its programs and activities. The work of DW is carried out by its Board, its committees and its membership.

Meetings

Disciples Women presents six programs a year on various topics. Ministries being carried out by women in the congregation include:

The Dead Sea Scrolls
Women in the Bible
Christian friendship and music

General program: first Wednesday of September, October, December, February, April and June. Fellowship time begins at 10:00 AM and the Call to Order in the parlor is at 10:30. Lunch follows the program.

March 14 & 15, 2008 - Bargain Bash - Hashinger Hall
April 2, 2008 - Program TBA
June 4, 2008 - Program TBA, installation of officers
Stephen Ministry Classes to begin in January

Women's Bridge Group: second Tuesday each month from 9:30 AM to 12:00 noon.

Disciples Women Executive Board: 10:00 AM on the third Wednesday of each month, or as announced, in the church parlor.

Events

In the spring, Disciples Women holds a church-wide rummage sale, called the Bargain Bash. The thousands of dollars raised are contributed to various causes, both denominational and local. These causes currently are as follows:

Disciples Mission Fund
Chapman University
Woodhaven
Bethany Towers
Eastmont Community Center
All Peoples' Community Center
Community Christian Service Agency (CCSA)
the San Diego Rescue Mission

Each year the Board also contributes money to one or more special projects/programs which benefit women and children in other countries.

Every year DW buys Christmas presents for a needy family through the CCSA Adopt-a-Family program.
