Transformational Outreach Ministry

Mission

Minister to people with physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs, in the name of Jesus Christ and on behalf of the congregation of TPCC. In order to carry out this mission, the committee contributes 10% of the offerings and pledges of the congregation to support organizations and agencies which help needy people and the Disciples of Christ denomination.

Events

Promoting volunteerism, particularly for the organizations/agencies receiving financial support from TPCC. For example:

• Filling backpacks and providing Christmas presents for needy children
• Distributing food and clothing to needy families
• Giving a Christmas party for San Diego homeless teens on December 19 at TPCC

Promoting the denomination's six annual Special Offerings, which support many general and specific ministries of the Disciples of Christ. These special offerings take place in or around February, Easter, Pentecost, September, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Sponsored the second annual Alternative-Giving Christmas Fair on Sunday, November 15, 2008. Several organizations were represented in Hashinger Hall, and the congregation was encouraged to learn about them and to donate money to them in the name of a friend or family member.

The third annual Alternative-Giving Christmas Fair will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2009.
