Mission
Minister to people with physical, social, emotional,
and spiritual needs, in the name of Jesus Christ and on behalf of the congregation of TPCC. In
order to carry out this mission, the committee contributes 10% of the offerings and pledges of the
congregation to support organizations and agencies which help needy people and the Disciples of
Christ denomination.
Events
Promoting volunteerism, particularly for the organizations/agencies receiving financial support from
TPCC. For example:
- Filling backpacks and providing Christmas presents for needy children
- Distributing food and clothing to needy families
- Giving a Christmas party for children in Tijuana on Saturday, December 8
Promoting the denomination's sixth annual Special Offerings, which support many general and
specific ministries of the Disciples of Christ. The first Special Offering of the fall was collected on Sunday,
September 30 and October 7. Its purpose is to support denomination-wide efforts to
eradicate racism within and beyond the church.
Sponsoring the first annual Alternative-Christmas Giving Fair on Sunday, November 18, from
10am-1pm. Several organizations will be represented in Hashinger Hall, and the congregation is encouraged
to learn about them and to donate money to them in the name of a friend or family member.
