Born August 3, 1956 into what would be a family of three girls; Nancy grew up near the San Diego State area in a home built by her father and grandfather.  She attended Crawford High School and then SDSU where she majored in Liberal Studies with emphasis in elementary education.  While at SDSU she was active in the Marching Aztecs (playing the glockenspiel) and the Alpha Delta Chi Sorority.  After receiving her Bachelors, she got a summer job at a church in the college area - and just fell in love with ministry.

For 29 years she has served in various capacities including Youth Ministries, Women's Ministries, Family Care, Special Events, and Single's Ministries.  For the last eight years she has served as the Children’s Director.

She has two beautiful daughters, Loren Elizabeth (17) and Megan Jane (15) who attend Grossmont High School in East County.  She has two terrific sisters, Betsy Burgreen (a graphic artist who serves on staff at LEGACY church in La Mesa) and Suzanne Schmitz who is married to Burt and is a career missionary with the Southern Baptist Convention.  Burt and Suzanne live in Senegal, West Africa and have two adopted African children, Rebekkah and Joshua.

Nancy loves the beach, game shows, the wind, rainbows, Cadbury chocolate and festive celebrations.  Her dream someday would be to travel with her girls to different places on the globe, experiencing places like Hawaii, London, Scotland, Italy or Greece.  Her greatest heroes are her mom and dad who gave her a great heritage by providing a home full of fun, support, creativity and security.  Her dad, Conrad Lorendo Burgreen, Jr. was her biggest cheerleader and always told her that she could be anything she wanted to be.  He was a life insurance salesman until his death in 1993.  And the love of celebrating?  Well that (and great faith) was learned from her amazing mom, Margaret Burgreen who created a themed birthday party for each of her daughters every year of their life and has a deep working knowledge of the Bible.  (Nancy's favorite party?  It’s a toss-up between her "Queen for a Day" party and her Flintstone party!)  Her favorite verse?  (Keep reading!)  Nancy also has an incredible aunt, Barbara Sue Martin, whom everyone calls "Auntie Susie" and who is a faithful prayer warrior.  She definitely moves mountains!

Nancy's passion is that children learn the truth of the Word of God so they can have the tools they need to face the "real world" with strength and courage.  She has a passion for excellence as well and wants to create environments that kids love and will invite their friends to!

Her favorite verse?  Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans for a HOPE and a FUTURE."  Nancy believes that when God tells us that He has plans - that they are already made and that He is ahead of her.  He unwraps them one day at a time and is faithful to His promise.  Nancy feels deeply that her new role at TPCC is one of those great plans.

Nancy looks forward to meeting each and everyone at Torrey Pines so that together we can make a difference in the future generations.  Let's trust God together as He builds the bridge while we walk on it.
